The Innovation Center of IT Solutions (CIS) is an educational and scientific division of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of the State Institution "Luhansk National University named after Taras Shevchenko" (LNU), aimed at studying, developing, implementing, and disseminating new, innovative engineering and technical solutions in the field of IT among students, teachers, civil servants, school children, and the region's population based on the use of modern computing, engineering, and technical equipment.
CIS was created within the framework of the ENI/2018/398-605 agreement – EU Support to the East of Ukraine – recovery, peacebuilding, and governance with the financial support of the European Union in order to promote the implementation of state policy in the field of digitalization within the Myrhorod community and the Poltava region, to strengthen the capacity of local self-government bodies, develop technical specifications for the implementation of new software in communities, provide assistance in supporting information systems at the community level, provide virtual distance learning services, professional development, retraining, and conduct training events on digitalization of the educational process, local self-government bodies, and various segments of the population. It is fully equipped with hardware and software to serve on this basis as a consulting platform for the implementation of digital tools in socio-economic systems.
In its activities, the Myrhorod CIS is guided by the legislation of Ukraine, the LNU Statute, the Regulations on the LNU Center of IT Solutions, and other regulatory documents. Taking into account the general structure of LNU named after Taras Shevchenko, CIS creates the basis for information support of the educational process and contributes to the professional development of specialists in state and other institutions.
Myrhorod CIS pursues a policy of open communication and offers:
- providing assistance in the implementation, configuration, and support of information systems at various levels;
- implementation of modern virtual computing systems based on VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon solutions, and deployment of various software on the Internet;
- creation of educational virtual computer operating systems Windows and Linux;
- providing assistance in the deployment, implementation, and configuration of various software tools and the creation of Web systems;
- professional development for teachers of secondary schools and lyceums, as well as instructors of educational institutions of I-IV accreditation levels;
- conducting digital learning events for the population, civil servants, and students;
- creation of places for students of educational institutions (including professional colleges) to complete educational and other types of internships;
- cooperation with state authorities and local self-government bodies, as well as other institutions and organizations, to improve the level of proficiency in computer electronic tools;
development of technical specifications for the implementation of new software in regional communities for the transition to exclusively digital interaction between structural divisions of the respective council and districts, government, state, as well as with community residents;- creation of a platform for the transfer of Internet of Things technologies between different economic sectors in the region.
When organizing courses, CIS uses modern Microsoft and VMware software as well as progressive educational technologies. It provides a flexible working schedule (24/7), adapts various software and the amount of virtual resources to maximally meet the real needs of students. A combination of face-to-face and distance learning formats is possible.
